Between Emmanuel Berl and André Breton, at the end of the 1920’s Suzanne Muzard’s sentimental life is marked by a constant hesitation, which can be seen in this text intended for – but not published in – The Surrealist Revolution. For beneath the technique of automatic writing, we can find a certain weight of phrasing, a consideration in the choice of terms, which reveals the mastery and the control of a culture and a style that the Surrealists would strive to overthrow. -“We attest to the disappearance of…”, handwritten manuscript by Suzanne Muzard, 3 and 1/2 pages in-12: “On windy evenings, I heard the bells ringing in the sea, on the infant’s robe the Pompadour’s buttons play at hiding under the beloved’s armpit. The powder case suffocates in seeing an old woman who sells pink carnations entering the boudoir.” [Auction catalogue, 2003]
